BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AT THE CENTRE

We would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Maurice Nugent who was 98 years old today, the 23^rd of August; Mrs. Kathleen Keane who was 90 on the 21^st of August;  Eileen and Bucky O’Brien who are 75 and 80, also Myra Butler.  A celebration was held on Wednesday in the Dr. Martin Centre and a great day was had by all.

A trip to Mount Congreve was held yesterday, the 22^nd of August, with lunch afterwards in the Holy Cross. Trips are planned for every month to various venues, such as Nell’s Cottage in Rathgormuck, Cinema, and Carrick-on-Suir.  Anyone interested, call the centre for more information

New programmes starting in September are - Flower Arranging classes, Cookery classes, also Art classes.  Please book, as numbers may be limited.

In the Dr Martin Day centre, holistic therapies are provided such as a complementary therapist;  a chiropodist is also facilitated.  The cost of treatments is €15 each, and booking for these is essential; please call the centre for further information.

LATEST NEWS - Saturday, August 17th, 2013.

We are planning a trip to Mount Congreve on Thursday the 22^nd of August and lunch afterwards at the Holy Cross.  Anyone interested in coming along, please call the centre. We want to thank Tom Comerford for the generous donation to the Dr Martin Day centre which was raised on our night out in Waterford. Tom also raised money for the Solas Centre in Waterford. We would also like to thank Eileen Maher for her generous donation. This was raised doing the Women’s Mini Marathon in Dublin in June. Also, Betty Baldwin, who gave a generous donation to the centre, and all the local business and all the community who have given generously to help keep the centre going.

AUGUST 17th, 2013.

Despite having a problem in getting this Blog properly off the ground, we continue to get viewers from distant parts; one such place being Indonesia! You are very welcome, indeed! We will list those countries at a later stage.

Our ONLY problem is getting a co-author installed on the site. This has eluded us, despite various attempts. If YOU know how to install a co-author, kindly contact us and let us know. The only solution appears to be to create a new Blog, with a new author taking charge  of the text, and the present author looking after the photography.  This we may have to do shortly. In the meantime, thank you for your patience!

A great day was had by all last Thursday the 20^{th of} June when we held a Spanish day. A big Thank You to Kyle Crotty, Anne Corcoran, Mary Fowler and to all the staff and volunteers who helped out in the preparation and planning of the day . It was an excellent day with great games, music and food tasting. A big Thank to all our Musicians such as Kevin Nolan, Sean O’Brien, Mgt Dooley, Louise Jacob, Gerry Walsh, Tom Comerford and John O’Shea who provide us with great entertainment every Wednesday afternoon.   

We are holding an ITALIAN DAY on Wednesday,  17^th of July, starting at 10am.Fun filled day with great games, music and people! In the morning – Traditional Italian games & food tastings. Dinner as usual at a cost of 7Euros. Please book by the 11^th of July on 387111 – 0870570652. In the afternoon – Music, John O’Shea and Bachelors in Trouble, food tastings, dancing and much more! Come along and join in with the fun!

On Wednesday the 24^th of July we are planning a trip to Mount Melleray and Lismore; anyone interested in coming along, please call the centre (more information next week).

We provide an excellent exercise programme on Wednesday mornings from 11.30 to 12.30. We have a qualified instructor who provides a varied and fun approach to physical exercise. SPANISH DAY AT CENTRE

We are holding a Spanish day on the 20th of June starting at 10am.  It promises to be a fun filled day with great games, music and people! In the Morning we will have – traditional Spanish games & food tastings. In the afternoon – music, food tastings, dancing and much more! Come along and join in with the fun! MOBILE OPTICIAN:

MASS in the Dr Martin Day Centre on Tuesday the 21^st of May all are welcome to attend.  

                                                                                                                                                                    EYES ON THE ROAD MOBILE OPTICIAN will be at the Dr Martin on the first Thursday of every month for all members of the community. Service is free of charge to medical card holders. They provide an extensive range of frames, single vision, bifocal or varifocal spectacles are available. Forms are available in the centre, which need to be filled in before appointments. We provide holistic therapies such as a complementary therapist, chiropodist and a hairdresser are facilitated for on the premises. Booking for treatments is essential call the centre or the manager for further information. We provide an exercise programme on Wednesday’s from 11.30 to 12.30. Anyone ordering take-away dinners, if you could please let us know before 12 o’clock, it would be appreciated.
